LOTUS and Phoenix Belly Dance

You are invited to join us and be one of the “Lotus and Phoenix” Belly Dance members.
The Lotus Flower is known not only for its inherent beauty, but also for its timeless symbolism of rebirth of rejuvenation. The Phoenix is a mythical bird which is reborn from the flames that seem to cause its demise, but instead fuel its rebirth and vitality.
Water and Fire are conduits of life. Dance unites these forces in our body as a form of rejuvenation, rebirth and release from our mundane stress. It is a venue of emotional expression, healing, and way to reach into the world around us. It has no inherent barriers.
Tuesdays 6:45-7:45 pm Belly Dance Drills (Zils, Shimmies, Steps, Short combinations, Fun with veil, etc.) All levels
7:50-8:50 - Expressive Explorations: Choreography, guided Improvisation, performance for all levels and styles.
Thursdays 7:40 - Basic Belly Dance for Beginners.
Our mission is to make everyone feel welcome and included. We are a non competitive group.
One class: $40 Both classes: $ 60 (only $5 per hour!) Classes are ONGOING. Fees are pro-rated for first time registration. Discount for Seniors and members of immediate family.

No refunds unless class is cancelled. Attire: Sportswear and non-rubber soles. Barefoot OK. Hipscarf encouraged but not required.
· Learn proper posture and body alignment to prevent injuries and facilitate movement.
· Utilize the large and small muscle groups to create movement (instead of using the joints)
· Improve coordination, balance, and body awareness
· Recharge memory batteries
· Explore being ourselves, in the moment, without comparison or competition.
· Release stress while having loads of fun
· Learn basic slow and fast movements, steps, and simple combinations .

You do not have to show your belly
Experience, rhythm, coordination and partner not needed.
Bring a friend to share laughter with.
Wear work-out or yoga attire, soft sole shoes or barefoot.
